Certainly, but I hadn't heard them referred to that way before.

I do have a very awkward question to ask, actually.

Is the existence of gods in other worlds not a certainty as it is in mine?
I suppose one could still believe in them purely as a matter of faith, but they literally granted people magical powers where I'm from.

It's very much uncertain where I come from. There is no proof of their existence or nonexistence.
People care very strongly on the subject, though. Wars have been fought over less.

The different planes on which divine beings reside, as far as I know, are actual locations that one can visit, provided their magic is strong enough.
Hardly something most mortals are capable of. Normally, you die, and you go to whatever plane the Ruby Witch deems you most worthy of.
My mother visited a few of the planes she believed she had a chance of surviving, and studied what she could of the others.

I can hardly imagine. Where I'm from,
no one ever
has seen a god, or been able to travel to a divine realm and inform the rest of us about it. Not in six millennia of recorded history, and I doubt that will change soon.'

I don't think anyone has ever properly seen a god before in my world either, actually.
At least, not in their true forms, but I highly doubt that's the same as what you're proposing.

Not in the slightest.
No human has ever seen an avatar of a god, an angel, a demon, any of that. No proof of anything divine, at all.

...what, no one's ever tried to summon a demon in your world?
How strange.

Oh, no, plenty of people have
tried
to summon a demon.
[There are rebellious teenagers in every world.]
But no one has done it successfully.

They should consider themselves lucky. It hardly ever ends well.

didn't
work in her world, good god. ]

Somehow, I'm not surprised by that.
